The spectacular death of Lady Diana Spencer in Paris on August 31st 1997 put an end to the life and destiny of the “ princess of hearts ”.
This event, involving such a well-known personality, created a tremendous surge of emotion and an atmosphere of world mourning , to which the French media contributed substantially.
But why stress to such an extent compassion and an increasing build-up of emotion to the detriment of real news on the end of the ascent of a personality with unquestionable personal ambitions who disturbed the Crown of England ? If not to bury her more quickly ?

This film intends to question the perverse, if not sought-after, effect consisting in dealing only with the factual story so as to deny another level of reality and avoid any pieces of news on the “ other world ”, that of the rich and the people in power. A world which sometimes accidently interferes with our daily lives or whose irruption takes the form of a crash.

The film also intends to show how the public at large was manipulated in this case : we will start our investigation from the same objective elements which were at the disposal of the media at the time and which those media chose or not to use in order to substantiate the official theory of the accident.
We will look back, with a critical and analytical eye, at what was taken by some for an event, by others for a non-event, and in both cases at a model case of how news, to which few of us were able to ignore, are presented.
